2007 is shaping up to be an insane year in next-gen HD on a disc. There's been so many significant announcements to follow, I didn't even have time to post on Disney's impressive Blu-ray lineup for the first half of 2007. There are some very impressive catalog titles coming in, and here they are.

It announced that its major release titles will be day and date with DVD from now on, including movies currently in theaters like Night at the Museum and Eragon when they're released to home video later this year.

I couldn't help myself with this one. As mentioned previously, Samsung amazed us by parking these "No Photos" signs all over its booth at CES. For all appearances, someone didn't want us taking pictures and talking up Samsung's new gear. Why show the stuff then?

Polk Audio blew my mind (and my pant legs) with a stealth audio system of five in-ceiling speakers and two in-floor subs. The system had impact and articulation, and I kid you not, if you stand over the slot that load's the subs' sound into the room you'll feel a cool breeze!

Did the HD DVD Group announce a bunch of hot HD DVD titles that will be coming our way in ’07? Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? HD DVD’s supporting studios will be releasing an awesome slate of new release and catalog titles, but for myself and fellow sci-fi buffs many of these pale compared to this double whammy: Not only has Warner announced that 2007 is the year that Ridley Scott’s classic Blade Runner will see a remastered release in HD, the remastered versions of the original Star Trek series will be released by Paramount on HD DVD this year as well. Someone pick me up off the floor!
