Luxeon
Luxeon proves that a DLP projector doesn't have to be big to be good. Their portable D520P projector weighs only 5.9 pounds and has just about every feature a theaterphile would expect from a DLP. Foremost among these features is Texas Instruments' Double Data Rate (DDR) technology, which is said to produce quicker micromirror movement and thus a higher-quality image. The D520P's light output is rated at 2,000 ANSI lumens, and it has a 1,500:1 contrast ratio and a native resolution of 1,024:768. Other tricks include a picture-in-picture function, manual zoom and focus, and vertical and horizontal digital keystone correction. For the asking price of $3,899, Luxeon also throws in a soft carrying case and a remote.

Theta Digital
Here's looking at you, Theta Digital; or, more specifically, your new Casablanca III Music and Cinema Controller. (Come on, that joke was just too easy.) The Casablanca III features Theta's Open Architecture, which consists of a motherboard for signal routing and several daughter boards for various function-specific circuitries. The company says that the Casablanca III takes customization to a new level, offering hundreds of crossover options like Linkwitz-Riley and phase-perfect. Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS ES (in both Matrix and Discrete 6.1 versions) are standard. Prices range from $9,000 to $20,000, depending upon configuration. The Casablanca III will definitely have you asking Sam to play it again. (Sorry, we couldn't resist.)

Atlantic Technology
The motto may already be taken, but we think Atlantic Technology ought to steal "Have it your way" from a certain fast-food chain. The THX Ultra 2–certified System 8200 is all about customization. This modular speaker system includes the 8200 LR three-way front speaker, the 8200 C three-way center channel, the 8200 SR bipole/dipole surround speaker, and the 8200 PedWoofer, a 12-inch subwoofer that's powered by the external SA 8200 amp. You can mate the 8200 LR with the 8200 PedWoofer to create a powered tower. Or, if you just want the look of tower speakers, you can get an empty pedestal to place under the 8200 LR or 8200 SR. Every piece is finished in Atlantic Tech's duraBlac speckled lacquer finish, and you can choose from accent-panel kits in high-gloss black lacquer, natural maple, oiled cherry, natural mahogany, or unfinished MDF that you can finish any way you please. Depending on the options you choose, the System 8200 can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $18,000.

MartinLogan
MartinLogan's Cinema i center-channel speaker builds on the same foundation as the company's Cinema center channel, but it incorporates some new technologies and a supercool industrial design. The speaker includes ClearSpar technology, which is said to enhance the Cinema i's transparent aesthetic and increase both efficiency and dynamics. MartinLogan's MicroPerf design is also aboard. In this design, the stator's individual holes are smaller, which allows for more open space compared with that of the traditional ESL transducer. This 37-pound speaker is ergonomically friendly, too. Using its included stand, you can mount it on your display, on the wall, on the ceiling, or even on the floor. Just use the incorporated handgrips to aim the speaker at the listening position. This versatile center channel costs $1,795.

V, Inc.
V, Inc.'s Bravo D2 DVD player is an update of the company's award-winning Bravo D1. The D2 has a DVI output that transfers a DVD's digital video signal straight to your display, bypassing analog conversion and the resulting digital-to-analog conversion artifacts. Through both the DVI and component video outputs, the unit's scaler can convert the signal to 480p, 720p, or 1080i (except in the case of Macrovision-protected DVDs). Playback options include Picture Zoom 1 and 2, MPEG-4, JPEG, DVD-R/+R, CD, CD-R/-RW, and Kodak Picture CD. The Bravo D2 is available in a titanium-silver finish for $250.

AudioControl
What if every product you bought was built with only award-winning designs? The world would be a kinder, gentler place, that's for sure. AudioControl is doing their part with their new Architect Model 950, which uses the same Class H Architect amplifier design that made the Model 1250 a past CEDIA Product of the Year. According to the company, AudioControl's Class H multi-rail design provides cool operation without using noisy fan mechanisms. The 16-channel, multizone amplifier features a five-band room-correction equalizer, and it uses BiMOS output channels for a dynamic, 4-ohm output of 55 watts. The compact unit takes up only 7 inches of panel height (four rack spaces), but a rack-mount adapter is also available. The Architect Model 950 is constructed on an all-metal chassis and retails for $3,250.

La-Z-Boy
So you've finally put together your dream home theater. The screen is just perfect, the components come together nicely, and you're all ready to settle in for that Rocky marathon this weekend. If only you could enjoy it all from the comfort of your favorite La-Z-Boy recliner. Say no more, my friend. La-Z-Boy has answered your prayers with their new Home Theater Collection. Seven pieces comprise the new Matinee group: right and left one-arm recliners; right and left wedges with armless recliners; a two-arm recliner; a console with a storage drawer; and a standalone wedge. You can customize the recliners with La-Z-Boy's power recline system, which lets you recline or extend to virtually any position. La-Z-Boy says that each cushion is placed at a 15-degree angle and positioned so that the seat back won't block the surround sound. The suggested retail price of the dividing furniture pieces (including the wedge and console) ranges from $299 in fabric to $799 in leather. Prices for the seating furniture pieces (including the one- and two-arm recliners) range from $599 in fabric to $1,899 in leather with the power reclining option.
