LG wasn't the only manufacturer to show an extra-large LCD TV. Sharp unveiled a new 70-incher in its Quattron line, which adds yellow subpixels to the normal red, green, and blue. The LC-70LE935 uses LED backlighting with local dimming and offers online content and 3D capabilities, while the LC-70LE732 omits 3D. In all, Sharp will introduce five new lines with screen sizes up to 70 inches and six lines with sizes up to 60 inches in 2011, and all will have WiFi connectivity.

Without fail, every CEDIA show Sharp tempts me with a 1-bit audio system. This year's installment has the catchy designation of BD/MPC10. With a Blue Ray player, 1-bit digital amplifier, speakers that look like high-tech ashtrays, and built-in Odyssey room correction system it looked and sounded very moderne. Price, delivery date, and final specifications are all TBA, naturally

Sharp showed a new line of LCDs sporting a new bezel design; piano black with silver. The 42-inch (LC-42D62U), 1080p model has a claimed 6ms response time and a 1300:1 native contrast ratio at a price of $2,499. Also in the line are a 46-inch LC-46D62U ($3,499), and a 52-inch LC-52D62U ($4,799). Both of these larger panels are 4ms. They will have 1080p inputs and will be available in October. The XV-Z20000 projector (we saw at CES 9 months ago) is coming out this month in all its 1080p glory for $11,999.

Frank Göbl of Canton and Steven Stone of our sister publication UltimateAV were the best-shod men on the floor. I think Steven (left) has the advantage here.

CES 2011 may be over, but we've got a lot more to show you, which we'll be posting this week. Meanwhile, here are some photos I took in the last hour on Sunday, when the crowds were mostly gone.

Many of the major manufacturers increased their booth space dramatically, which indicated to me that the economic recovery is well underway for them. Panasonic built auditorium seating in front of this wall o' 3D TVs.

Canton's fine people pulled us aside to show off the new CD 3200. It's a sleek, beautiful, contemporary-looking silver tower that has an internal 200-watt IcePower amp and four aluminum 4-inch mid/bass drivers and one of Canton's ADT-25 aluminum-manganese tweeters with a 2-1/2-way crossover. The CD 3200s are $1600 each.

Snell's legendary designer Joe D'Appolito has taken the LCR 7 ($1000/each), favorably reviewed in our pages by Steve Guttenberg, and gotten two new models out of the same driver array, including a silk dome tweeter and two 5.25-inch treated-paper woofers. The ICS 1030 ($900/each) is an in-cabinet model while the AMC 6030 ($1250/each) is an in-ceiling model.

Hosting a Buffy the Vampire Slayer pajama party? Integra introduces a six DVD changer that will let go through a whole season of your favorite TV show without having to get up. The DPC-7.7 isn't some lowbrow unit either, featuring HDMI outputs and video upscaling to 1080i or 720p, though it won't do anything to fix Josh Wheadon's decision to shoot everything in a 4x3 aspect ratio (What were you thinking Josh???). Price is a super reasonable $400.

Swiss developer Sonic Emotion was demonstrating its 3D Sound technology in a smallish booth at the Convention Center using soundbars from Haier and Coby. Granted, these are hardly the type of "ultimate" products I normally feature on UAV, but the underlying technology is surprisingly advanced and worthy of coverage here.
