The Dish Network is joining other video providers in offering its content online to paying subscribers.

DishOnline.com will provide free video clips to any customer, movies and TV shows with a subscription, and premium content streaming for a one-time fee. Those with a top-line DVR will also be able to view live programming or watch what they recorded earlier.

When we visited the beta version of DishOnline.com and clicked at random on an episode of Big Brother, the site displayed an ad, then began running the program. Master Chef was displayed with a Hulu logo in the playback box. Only select movie content was showcased with a "locked" notice. Presumably the login and password requirement for other programming will come later.
