Owners of Samsung BD-PX600 Blu-ray players have been puzzled recently by discs from Universal and Warner that do not play. Good news: A fix is on the way.

The problem arrived with firmware version 2.09. Exactly how it caused problems has been a subject of speculation. Some point to DRM keys, while others say it was a problem with BD-Live or BD-Java.

In any case, some users have dealt with the snafu by reinstating earlier firmware. But Samsung, with apologies, has announced that new firmware will fix the glitch.

A similar problem occurred earlier this year with, of all titles, Avatar. Samsung acted promptly to fix that problem.
