Toshiba Emphasizes LCD

Toshiba is clearly promoting its Regza LCD sets above other technologies as there were only two DLP sets shown. The new Regza line has some impressive innovations which could push Toshiba to the LCD forefront. Even the 720p sets have a dynamic backlight to improve contrast ratio by a factor of 5 and advanced 14-bit video processing (instead of 8). All 1080p models have a wider color space but the Cinema Series sets (available up to 57”) also have XVycc technology for enhanced color space conforming to the new IEC standard plus a 120 hz refresh rate. Most models are coming by April but the Cinema Series will be delayed until June/July.

I can't be certain because the picture is so tiny, but does the one on the right say "WITH a whole lot of glare from your camera's flash" and the one on the left say "WITHOUT quite as much glare from your camera's flash" ?

Derf- The rumor going around is that UAV's top Blogger stayed home to care for his aching bunyons and corns, and therefore the quality of some of the Blogs and photos are not up typical high standards.

sRGB is already the smallest color space commonly available, and much outdated. So, if XVycc technology is employed, it will not expand TV colorspace adequately. XVycc is only 1.8 times larger than sRGB. Digital cameras already have much larger gamuts than display devices. NTSC was flawed; ATSC is flawed; and now IEC 61966-2-4 is flawed. It is a small step forward, but not large enough.
