Sonus Faber Elipsa

The name may be odd, but the sound from these new Sonus Faber speakers was anything but. It was clean and open, with a beautiful top end from its dynamic ring radiator driver.

$20,000/pair may be a stretch, but the sound was gorgeous. The midrange driver is new, and while Sonus says that they have current center channel models that will work fine with these speakers in a surround sound system, the Elipsa deserves a matching center that uses this new midrange and tweeter.

The tweeter on this speaker is the same as the cremona tweeter, and the woofer is the Strad woofer. The Elipsa is at the top of the "classic" line, and the the Cremona center would be more than adequate. If you ever heard the Cremona center you would know what I mean. They should however develop an Homage center channel to match the Amati's Strad's and Guenari's. The only solution for an homage home theater is the cremona center and that is a clear mis-match. -J
