Sharp’s DLP front projectors have always been overachievers that offered a ridiculous amount of performance for the money. Nevertheless, with the company’s sharp (ahem) focus on LCD flat panels, I wasn’t certain we’d see any new front projector products from Sharp at this show. Well, I was wrong!

Sharp’s XV-Z15000 is a 1080p single-chip DLP, with a claimed contrast ratio of 30,000:1. These numbers suggest a dynamic iris, and Sharp’s reps at the show believed this was the case although the press release wasn’t specific on this point. We’ll follow up when we know more.

Perhaps best of all, this projector’s retail price is only $3k, suggesting Sharp has once again delivered a bang-for-the-buck marvel. Available in March.
