The Onkyo turned in an excellent set of Video Test Bench resluts, particularly considering its price. The only letdowns were a failure to pass the highest Chroma Resolution horizontal burst frequency and the Analog SD 2:2 pulldown test. In most of the other 3:2 and 2:2 tests, it was a little slower to lock on to the cadence than the best surround processors we’ve seen, but it ultimately did well enough on them to earn passing grades.—TJN
