My Next TV

Pioneer blew everyone away with their new 60" plasma prototypes. They claim better than 20,000:1 contrast. They say they can't measure it any higher given todays test equipment. I wonder what Toshiba is using to measure the 50,000:1 contrast they claim they've achieved with SED?

The prototype was setup next to an older Pioneer with a 1,000:1 contrast rate. Is the difference noticable? Like the proverbial veil was lifted. This is the best plasma I've ever seen!

Expected date is before the Olympics in 2008. They're going to sell a lot of TVs.

My dad asked me to intepret this for him, and I thought you all might be interested... "A monitor quality of the future, surpassing all logic... FLAT SCREEN DISPLAY." which said in more easy-to-understand english, "A monitor quality that surpasses all logic!"

Larry, no, no one was talking in Japan yet, but I'm sure I can beat the bushes at CES in Jan uary and get at least an inkling - they'll be competing in the real world so it won't be outragious (or it won't sell!
