Monitor Audio Gold GX50 Speaker System HT Labs Measures
HT Labs Measures
Satellite Sensitivity: 87.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 88 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (em- ploying close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the GX50 satellite (purple trace), GXC-150 center channel (green trace), and GXW-15 subwoofer (blue trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The GX50’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.17/–1.95 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 59 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 53 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.85 ohms at 216 Hz and a phase angle of –53.30 degrees at 108 Hz.
The GXC-150’s listening-window response measures +1.29/–1.36 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15- degree horizontal responses measures +1.84/–1.92 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 72 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 55 Hz. Impedance reaches a min- imum of 4.94 ohms at 190 Hz and a phase angle of –49.74 degrees at 84 Hz.
The GXW-15’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 39 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 29 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 190 Hz using the LFE input and the EQ set to Off.—MJP
