Just bought this movie on BD and was very impressed with the movie, pic quality, and most by the sound quality. One of my favorite audio samples was at the last third of the movie where dozens on Drones fall out of the sky and land in front of Tony. The drones seemed to be falling all over may basement theater from the back to the left and right and all the way to the front.
Iron Man 2
When Iron Man's true identity as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) becomes public knowledge, a brilliant and ruthless Russian physicist (Mickey Rourke) with a family-based grudge is hell-bent on destroying the playboy billionaire.
The first Iron Man was considered to be one of the best comic-book adaptations ever done, and the sequel is equally impressive. There's a captivating story, an all-star cast, and tons of action that's perfectly suited for an ultimate demo.
The raucous DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack features crisp dynamics, ample bass, and impressive sound design. But don't overlook the video encode with its exquisite detail and virtually seamless CGI.
Drop zone
- Chapter 2, 00:05:10
- Dynamic range, frequency response, surround envelopment
- Iron Man prepares to leap from the back of a military aircraft as AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill" explodes throughout the soundstage. When the payload door slowly drops, you can hear fireworks exploding and the superhero freefalls into the airborne pyrotechnic display. At the 00:05:32 mark, prepare yourself for some thunderous bass when he engages his thrusters for the first time. What a great way to be reintroduced to the hero!
In the hot seat
- Chapter 3, 00:11:13
- Detail, color saturation
- As Tony prepares for his testimony before Congress, he seeks advice from Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow), who's sitting in the crowd. Check out the fabulous detail in Tony's pinstripe suite, the vivid red tie over Pepper's right shoulder, and how the Air Force dress uniform bursts off the screen.
The party's over
- Chapter 6, 00:0592:01
- As Tony and Rhodes (Don Cheadle) conclude their semi-friendly battle, the two unleash energy blasts at the same time. The resulting explosion rocks the room with intense bass while shards of glass fall from every direction and a table top hurtles from front to back.

Jarod,
That's a good scene as well, but I try and not spoil the endings :)
