Nanny McPhee ReturnsUniversal (Blu-ray)
When Nanny McPhee appears at the farmhouse door of a busy young mother, Isabel Green, she discovers that Mrs. Green's children are in an all0out household war with their two spoiled city cousins. Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and statue that comes to life, to tree-climbing piglet an and elephant that turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to show the children five valuable lessons, the most important of which is learning how to get along.
The video encode features bold primary colors, excellent detail, and solid black levels. There's a fair amount of CGI and it blends in seamlessly. The DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack is just as impressive with creative sound design with well-placed discrete effects and realistic ambience, especially with all the critters on the farm.
Supplements include a dozen deleted scenes, six production featurettes, a look inside the story, and a feature commentary with director Susanna White. Also available through BD-Live are two bonus movies you can stream; Curious George 2 and Beethoven's Big Break.
The first Nanny McPhee wasn't that great, and I don't have much to say about this sequel. Emma Thompson is very good as the lead but the story is a little too saccharine and if you have kids under 10, they'll most likely enjoy it a lot more than mom and dad.
