IBM Announces Lightweight HDTV Projector
Intended primarily for computer-based business presentations, the MicroPortable features an integrated software package that lets users automatically set up the image on a "plug and project" basis. Auto-sensing circuitry detects the type of input signal and automatically sets up the projector for the proper output.
XGA -level graphics and video are the native format for the MicroPortable, whose projector lamp is said to have a 2000 hour lifespan. Early announcements (the first was May 22) are skimpy on data about which HDTV formats the MicroPortable supports, but IBM will certainly release more information as the product gains momentum.
The MicroPortable projector sells for $4999, and carries a three-year warranty. To learn more, visit the IBM website.
