Are height channels the next big thing in surround sound? If so, Atlantic Technology is ready with the first speaker designed expressly for height-enhanced surround.

The 1400 SR-z is a bipole-dipole speaker that can be mounted above the front left and right speakers for the recently debuted Dolby Pro Logic IIz as well as other height-enabled surround modes that may emerge in the future. Measuring 12.25 by 8 by 5.4 inches, it includes two 3.5-inch full-range drivers mounted on different sides of the enclosure. Price will be $425/pair, shipping late May.
